Born in 1939 in New York City, Guy Cross was a fashion and beauty photographer from 1967 to 1978 in New York City and London doing advertising and editorial photography for Condé Nast , Fairchild Publications, Redbook, Seventeen , English Vogue, Harpers/Queen, Texas Monthly, CotyEvergreen Review and Faberge, among many others.

He was co-publisher of The Picture Paper and EAT magazine in Santa Fe, 1978-1981. He published Edge City magazine from 1988-1991 in Eureka, California. He was the co-publisher and creative director of THE magazine—Santa Fe’s magazine of the arts from 1992 to 2016.  He has photographed album covers for Muddy Waters, Rita Coolidge, Happy Traum and Eric Anderson.  

As well, he has photographed and written about a range of local and national artists, musicians and celebrities including: Agnes Martin, Bruce Nauman, Joe Cocker, Bob Dylan, Phillip Glass, John Waters, Herb Ritts, Ivan Karp and James Coburn, to name a few. His fine art photographs have been exhibited in Santa Fe at Arlene LewAllen Contemporary and Klaudia Marr Gallery. He has contributed work to SITE Santa Fe's annual SITE Unseen events. In 1985 he had an exhibition at the Museum of Rock Art in Los Angeles and an exhibition in the late 90s at the 18th Street Arts Complex in Santa Monica. Many of his photographs from the 60s to the present are being archived by the New Mexico History Museum.
